About Our Research

Dr. Ideker leads a research group aiming to change the way molecular networks within a cell are represented and to bring them into use in the clinical setting for personalized cancer treatment.

Firstly, the team aims to tackle the fact that current network biology approach to molecular interactions within a cell is to flatten the hierarchy that actually exists on multiple scales. Their approach will allow for a more complex, multi-scale representation of cellular function.

With the networks and multi-scale ontologies developed, Dr. Ideker’s lab will move toward predictive models able to assess how genotype translates in cancer phenotype and use a patient’s data to determine what effect specific treatments should have on his or her disease.
